Tsunami Updates
Hello Tsunami Families!
We have some important information and some exciting news to pass on to you all! The upcoming season is fast approaching and we have a lot left to do! Buckle up because this is a long email, but has lots of good info, so please read through :)
Important announcements:
1. Mark your calendars for Sunday June 16th. We have reserved Pirates Cove Water Park for the Knolls Tsunami Families, Friends and the Knolls Neighborhood. This will be a fund raiser for the Swim Team, so invite everyone to come and have fun at this private event! The park will be open from 6:30-8:30, and you can bring in your own food and drink (no glass or alcohol). The cost will be $10/person and you can buy your tickets when you register, anytime on the Swimtopia website or even at the door! We hope that you all can attend and have a great evening with the team and your families!
2. Water World tickets will once again be available for the team, and we have scheduled Thursday June 20th as Water World Day for our team. The way the tickets will work this day is different than in the past. In order for us to get a group rate for Water World, 50 tickets need to be sold, otherwise we will not get a discounted deal. The cost for the tickets is $39/person, and the tickets can be used any day during the summer. There will be a sign-up sheet at the Kick off meeting for those interested in attending where you can purchase your tickets, and you will also be able to add the tickets to your registration fee on 4/13 when it opens. IF we do NOT meet the 50 ticket requirement by April 25th, your money will be refunded.
3. This year, the Spaghetti Kick Off Dinner will be catered by Noodles and Co and the Pancake Truck will be here for Picture Day. Both events will have a price of $5/person who would like to join us to eat! We will be having a RSVP to both events so we know how much food to plan for.
Other Important Information:
The Kick-off Meeting will be on Wednesday April 3rd at the Knolls Clubhouse at 6:00pm. The coaches will be there along with both Parent Reps to answer any questions you might have and to offer some insight to the New Volunteer Requirements.
Speaking of Volunteer Assignments: This year we will once again open all Volunteer Positions at the time of registration. Additionally, we are in need of the following positions, so please carefully think about whether you can help us out in any of these roles.
Clerk of Course:
This individual will ensure that the heating volunteers arrive for their shift and know what they are doing as far as each heating position entails, and checks in throughout the shift to ensure that there are no questions and everything is running smoothly. This person must attend the scratch meeting prior to the meet and ensure that all heating sheets are updated accordingly. Individual must be detail oriented and available for the entire swim meet. The good news is that there are only 2 home meets this year! This is a very important position and must be filled in order to run the meets.
Tye Dye Day: We are once again looking for a coordinator for this position, which will be worth 2 points. This would also be a great job for any teenagers out there that are taking art classes or need volunteer hours through school. If we do not get any volunteers, we will not be having a Tye Dye Day this year. If anyone wants to take this on, please let us know what day you will be holding the event, the time and we will reimburse you for any materials you purchase. This would be a "bring your own item to dye" event, so there would also need to be someone there during the day to collect the materials and put them in the solution.
Parent Relays: We are looking for a Parent Relay coordinator to run this event. While this has been a fun event in the past, there has not been too much interest in the past could years. If someone would like to see this event back in the rotation, we will need someone to schedule the event (could be after a meet, spaghetti kick off dinner, with another team?) and send out all the correspondence.
There is a New Stroke Judge training on April 30th at 7pm at Koelbel Library. All current stroke judges will only need to take an online test. Please consider becoming a stroke judge as they are always needed!
I think that is enough information for now. Please feel free to reach out to either of us, and check the Swimtopia website, as it is being updated frequently with new information. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Jaime and Andrea
