    Summer Swim Team Update- IMPORTANT

    Hello Tsunami families!

We just wanted to give you all a quick update as to where we stand and what our thoughts are regarding the swim season this summer. As with many of you, we were hoping to hear an update on Monday, May 25th about pools. However, we did not get any new information and so we now turn to holding out hope for an update around June 1st. What we do know is that public pools remain closed and the Safer at Home orders have been extended until June 1st.   A big thank you to everyone that completed the survey that was sent earlier this month.  It was an overwhelming response of "YES" lets get the kids in the water in whatever capacity we can!

We have been in contact with Coach Randy to discuss options/scenarios based upon what other swimming clubs, USA Swimming, Government entities, etc. are putting in place across the country. We all agree that the safety of everyone is the priority and we will not put anyone in a situation that is unsafe. Assuming we will be required to follow social distancing and capacity guidelines, we predict the following will most likely occur:

    - Age group only swim practices. Probably divided up based upon numbers, 45 minute practices, no overlap.
    - No 6&Unders or Ripples (*unless fully independent swimmers). Due to the fact that coaches will not be allowed to be in the water helping kids swim, only independent swimmers will be allowed in the pool.
    - There will be a separate entrance and exit into the pool area.
    - No use of locker rooms, swimmers must come and leave in their suit.
    - There will be no hanging around before or after practice in the pool area.

What we do know is that in order to proceed with anything this summer we will need to supply a roster to RMSL on Monday June 1st with a list of names of swimmers that are interested in any sort of summer program.  This list will be provided to them in order for our insurance to continue.  We have opened a Summer 2020 registration that will need to be filled out by each family with the names of swimmers prior to Monday June 1st.  This registration form has a new release with Covid-19 wording. Filling out this registration in no way is a commitment from you, this only gives us an idea on how many swimmers we may have and from there we can put a plan into place.  If and only If we get the green light, we will provide you with a plan and let you know any monetary cost associated with the program.  Please take a minute to log onto the swimtopia website and register your swimmers as soon as possible so that we can get the information out to RMSL by their deadline of 6/1.  We will be closing the registration at 3pm on Monday 6/1After this time, emails will be sent to only those interested and registered.  Please bare with us until then as we only have so many ways we can send out communications.

Additionally, even though we are unable to do some of the fun things we had planned, we are going to go ahead with the pancake truck!  This year, it will be a drive through fund raiser for the Swim Team.  The cost will be $6/plate and as soon as we have a set date/time (either June 10th or June 12th) we will get that information out to the neighborhood!

We are still holding out hope that we will be able to do something in the pool this summer! As soon as any new information is available, we will be sure to let you know.

Thank you for your patience and support,

    Jaime, Andrea & Liz
