All Swimmers - Mark your calendars!

• Once our regular season swim meets conclude on June 29^th we still have regular swim practice for all swimmers through Wednesday July 3^rd (No practices July 4^th or 5^th).
• Once prelims start on Mon July 8^th, practice will be smaller and times will be adjusted as it is only for swimmers swimming in Prelims. (After each age group Prelim meet, any swimmer advancing to Finals still has practice through Friday 7/12.
• Sunday Evening, July 14^th. (exact time TBD based on weather) Everyone, please join us for the end of year banquet (we all bring light appetizers/desserts to share) and coaches celebrate each swimmer! There is an end of year slide show from all the events and it’s a great way for the whole team to close out the season together!

What are Prelims/Finals Anyway?

When our family was new to swim team we were a bit overwhelmed/confused by what prelims/finals were so we wanted to explain it to all our swimmers, because everyone is invited to sign up for prelims!

Prelims: Week of July 8th

• Prelims are age group swim meets. For example, on Tuesday, July 9^th Swimmers 8 and Under have their own swim meet. In this example, only 8 & Under events take place, but there are lots of heats (imagine how many 8 & Unders swim a 25 freestyle 😊) It starts at 8:00 am typically lasts longer than a Saturday meet (last year prelim meets ranged from 12:30-3:30 pm end times). It is a really fun day to spend with swimmers/parents of a particular age group.

• Anyone is eligible as long as they have participated in 2 of our 5 regular swim meets. This is not designed for just the fastest swimmers and heats are set up by like times so swimmers swim against similar paced kids.

• The team may really need your swimmer for a relay!
• Consider car pooling / taking shifts with other age group parents as we know it can be hard on weekdays with parents’ jobs!
• We are opening up Prelim Meet sign ups now! Just remember, if it doesn’t let you sign up it will once your swimmer has completed 2 swim meets.

Here are the Prelim dates and locations:

Monday July 8^th: Prelims 13 & Up- Cherry Creek Vista pool

Tuesday July 9^th: Prelims 8 & Under – Heritage Greens pool

Wednesday July 10^th: Prelims 9/10 – Homestead Pool

Thursday July 11^th: Prelims 11/12 – Homestead Farm II Pool

We need to have all prelim entries completed by July 2^nd per the RMSL league. We will not be able to add swimmers after that date. You sign up the same way as you do for normal meets under Schedule: All Meets & Events on the Swimtopia website.

Volunteer Shifts Prelims/Finals Thank you to parents who already signed up for a Prelim/Finals volunteer shift. We have several spots still open. I will make a list below and then you can email us at [email protected] if you are available and we will add you in. Thank you, thank you as I know it is a lot of work, but these are huge memory making events for our swimmers!

Finals on Saturday 7/13 are for any swimmer who placed in the top 16 places for each event in each age group. Swimmers can qualify for individual events, relay teams, or both. (Swimmers who place 17^th and 18^th are alternates and also invited to Finals in case a swimmer 1-16 can’t swim). Finals takes place at Stonegate’s pool this year.
